What is DIN 3015?

DIN 3015 is a German Industry Standard for block-style clamps designed as a construction kit for installing tubes, pipes, hoses, cables and other flexible components using the most common imperial and metric outside diameters from 6mm to 102mm / .24 inch to 4.02 inches. The clamp bodied are manufactured using various thermoplastics, thermoplastic elastomers or aluminum. They are tested and approved by several independent certification bodies. The clamps indicate easy installations for pipe, tube, hose and cables and provide noise and vibration-damping properties.

What is the difference between a tubing clamp and a piping clamp and how they are measured?

Pipe clamps and tubing clamps are measured differently, often causing confusion to industry personnel. To break it down simply, pipe measures differently than stainless steel tubing. Pipe is measured by nominal pipe size and tubing is measured by its diameter.

Some examples are below:

  • 1.50” pipe would have a diameter of 1.90”
  • Tubing is measured based off the outside diameter so
  • 1.50” tubing would have an outside diameter of 1.50”

To make it easier for our customers, all our clamps have the inside diameter (I.D.) dimension listed in the product’s description. This is the measurement of the inside diameter of the clamp itself.

For an example, part number “RAPR-212,7” has an inside diameter (I.D.) of 0.500”. This clamp is designed to be used with half inch (0.500”) tubing which has an outside diameter (O.D.) of 0.500”. The two of these together make the best fit.

Another instance would be part number “RAPR- 321,3” which is for 0.500" pipe. This clamp has an inside diameter (I.D.) of 0.840”. The outside diameter (O.D.) of 0.500" pipe is 0.840” so they will work nicely together.
